A large shrub to small tree bearing large greenish-yellow cone shaped flowers attractive to nectar eating birds. Prune after flowering to maintain size and shape. Flowering occurs from spring through to mid summer. The flowers are followed by very large fruiting cones. Evergreen.
Adaptable to most conditions including coastal and is frost hardy.

These giant silver proteas are beautiful trees with light-reflecting, silky, silver leaves. An erect ornamental tree, with a stout trunk and thick grey bark. They are at their most silver in hot, dry weather, when the hairs on the leaves lie flat to protect the leaves from drying out.
Avoid fertilisers but will respond well to compost or peat.
